Hello, my name is Rae Ann Guinn. I was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, and now call beautiful East Tennessee home. My husband and I have been married for 36 years, and we are blessed with two beautiful daughters.
Chaplaincy is more than a role to me. It is a calling to be present with individuals and families during one of life's most sacred and tender seasons. It is an opportunity to offer spiritual support, listen without judgement, provide comfort, honor each person's story, and help families navigate the emotions and questions that come as babies are blessed, as couples join hands in marriage, and as a loved one approaches the end of life.
I can rejoice in the joy or blessings with families, pray with families, and I know that I cannot take away every fear or answer every question. But I can be present. I can listen. I can pray with those who desire prayer, share the hope of Christ when welcomed, and offer a compassionate presence when words are difficult to find.
Sometimes, the greatest ministry is simply sitting beside someone in their greatest joys, biggest blessings, and biggest celebrations and their deepest sorrows and reminding them that they do not have to walk through it alone.
My heart for ministry is rooted in the belief that every person deserves love, joy, light, dignity, compassion, and care at the end of life. I also believe that families need support as they prepare to say goodbye to someone they love. Their grief may begin long before the final moments, and their spiritual and emotional needs deserve to be met with gentleness and understanding.
My desire is to meet families where they are, respecting their beliefs, listening to their concerns, and offering comfort in ways that are meaningful to them. I want to be a steady, compassionate presence in the midst of joy, blessings, trying times, hardships, uncertainty and a source of encouragement when hearts are heavy.
My faith reminds me that even in life's hardest moments, we can seek God's presence, love, and peace. I want to share that hope with humility, sensitivity, and grace, never forgetting that each person and family has a unique story.
When I look back over my life, I see how God has continued to shape my heart through family, faith, service, leadership, tears, prayers, and personal challenges. What once felt like separate chapters now seems connected by a common thread: A desire to care for people and help them feel loved, seen, and supported.
I believe God can use every season of our lives to prepare us for the work He has called us to do. My journey has taught me that ministry is not about having all the answers. It is about being willing to say yes to God, to serve others with a compassionate heart, and to trust Him to work through us.
As a chaplain, my prayer is to honor the Lord by serving individuals and families with kindness, humility, and love. I want to offer blessing in the joyous moments and comfort in the final days of life, support those who are grieving, and remind families that even in the presence of sorrow, they do not have to face the journey alone.
My calling is to be present in the joyous moments and the sacred moments of life's final chapter—to listen, to comfort, to serve, and to share God's love with every family entrusted to my care.
If you would like to talk about a ceremony, chaplaincy service, doula care or spiritual support, I would be honored to hear from you.
